Volleyball teams donate to cancer research

PEORIA, Ill. -- While most Junior High sports teams are focused on their competition, three schools in Washington focused on working together for a great cause.

Over their volleyball seasons, the girls have held bake sales and sold spirit gear to raise money for the OSF Cancer Research Center. One school even allowed students to chew gum in class if they made a donation.

Two players from each team went to the Research Center to present a check totaling $1,835.

Kaci Green, the Illinois Cancer Care Foundation Assistant, was excited to see members of the younger generation taking action.

"It's great to see a group of girls want to do something like this. And just raise so much money for us." She adds, "Any donation is great. And to see their passion for it is just wonderful."
