A debate that will probably never end, is whether Windows OS or Mac OS is the best. Both operating systems have benefits for certain types of people, and those people aren?t going anywhere. In many ways, it depends on how you?re going to be using your computer, as Windows is better for some applications, and Mac for others. Let?s take a closer look at the advantages of each OS.

You probably should use Windows if you like to spend time on your computer playing games. If you have a Mac, there are some games, but Windows has a much larger selection. It?s true that with today?s Mac computers, you can use Bootcamp and run your Mac like a PC. However, if you?re a serious gamer, it may not make sense to have to go to this trouble. Your demanding games need a lot of speed and power, and you might not get enough by using Bootcamp, even though it is useful with some Windows programs. Of course, if you really want the best gaming experience, your best bet would be to buy a PC made especially for gaming, though these can be quite expensive. When it comes to the debate between Mac and Windows, if you are a gamer you will definitely want the latter. Mac computers come with a wide variety of useful software programs installed. iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie and iWeb are all part of iLife, which comes with your Mac computer. If you have photos or videos that you want to share with others, you have that ability with these programs, and also they can be edited and organized. You don?t really get that much with Windows, when it comes to software. If you read the fine print, you will notice that a lot of software you are getting are free trials, so you are not getting all of the software you think you are. Many of these programs have to be upgraded to use them, after a month or so. This is particularly true of low-priced PCs. So this is something to consider when you compare the price of a Mac to a PC.

If you regularly use computers at school or at work, it?s very likely that they are going to be running the Windows OS. If this is the case, then getting a Windows based computer will probably be more convenient for you in case you have to use the same programs at home. For instance, sharing files with PC users is quite a lot more difficult when you use a Mac. It?s easier than it has ever been to move between Macs and PCs because there is more software compatibility than ever and because if you have a Mac you can use Bootcamp to help your computer run like a Windows based PC. Of course, if the majority of what you work with are Windows based programs, choosing a Mac probably isn?t a productive idea. Even though Macs are more popular today than ever before, most schools, corporations and large organizations still use Windows. These are just some of the things you should think about when you are trying to choose between the Windows and Mac operating systems. If you are having trouble making up your mind, it?s a good idea to visit one of the larger computer stores, including one of the nearby Apple stores. You?ll find that it?s easier to make a final decision once you?ve gotten up close and personal with all of your options.
