I read where a couple of years back Master Chef Gordon Ramsay was advised to go bankrupt; apparently his up-scale restaurants have been hit hard by the economic downturn.
I personally have never eaten at one of Gordon?s restaurants, but I can imagine the food to be good, and not cheap.
But with that being said it is sad to hear of these things.
It seems fortunately, he has been able to cut staff (that is not fortunate for the staff) and make changes, sell some assets, and inject some cash to keep things a float for now.
Even Gordon admits he is not a businessman, but a chef and has learned from the experience.
Dining out would be one of the first things people cut, or are asked to cut, when they are experiencing financial problems.
Holidays get delayed, or are drastically reduced during these times as well.
Nothing new, but to hear of Mr. Ramsay?s plight, I was surprised and hope all works out well; of course it did not for the staff that were let go.
But out of this two things spring to mind: one is that he sought out advice, expert advice I would imagine, in order to see what the real picture is, and two, he made the changes necessary to avoid being insolvent/going bankrupt.
So many people do not seek out proper expert advice for their situation and then many who do, simply do not make the changes required to either improve or stave off the impending problem or need to go bankrupt and do nothing, just wait to see what will happen.
This is the real secret in being able to keep on top of things, being able to change and adapt.
If you need financial assistance, get it; if an advisor recommends solutions, do them.
By waiting and wondering in most instances, short of hitting the Lottery, the matters only get worse.
