LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Mark Feuerstein ("Royal Pains"), Kate McKinnon ("Saturday Night Live"), Greer Grammer ("Awkward") and Tony winner Julie White ("Transformers") have joined the cast of indie comedy "Life Partners," TheWrap has learned.
Susanna Fogel will make her directorial debut with the film, which she co-wrote with writing partner Joni Lefkowitz. The duo's script was workshopped within the Sundance Institute's 2012 Writers Lab, as well as its 2012 Creative Producing Lab. The project began life as a play that was part of the annual "Unscreened" series in 2011, as initially reported by TheWrap.
Jordana Mollick and Brendan Bragg of Black Sheep Management & Productions are producing along with Riva Marker and Daniela Taplin Lundberg. Daniel Crown is executive producing with Anne O'Shea of Minerva Productions and Peter Touche of Sandia Media.
"Life Partners" is a comedy about a codependent friendship between two very different girls -- type-A personality Paige (Gillian Jacobs "Community") and lesbian slacker Sasha (Leighton Meester, "Gossip Girl") who have made a pact; Paige has vowed she won't get married until Sasha has the same legal right. Adam Brody co-stars as a charming young doctor who romances Paige. As a crucial vote on gay marriage approaches, the trio struggles with issues of love, friendship and loyalty.
Feuerstein, McKinnon, White and Grammar join a supporting cast that also includes Gabourey Sidibe, Abby Elliott and Beth Dover.
Myriad Pictures has acquired international rights to "Life Partners" and will handle foreign sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. UTA Independent Film Group and WME Global will co-rep domestic rights.
"Life Partners" is the first major film for McKinnon, who has proven herself a talented comedienne on "Saturday Night Live" with original characters such as Olya Povlatsky and impressions of Jodie Foster, Ellen DeGeneres and Ann Romney. She's repped by Paradigm, Principato-Young Entertainment and attorney Melissa Manfro.
Feuerstein, who recently wrapped the indie comedy "Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant," is repped by UTA and Framework Entertainment.
Grammer, who is the daughter of new "Transformers 4" villain Kelsey Grammer, is repped by APA, Strategic Talent Group and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
White is repped by Paradigm and Himber Entertainment.
